Joseph Blitzstein and Michael Parzen named Favorite Professors
Joseph Blitzstein Michael Parzen
Two Stat Dept faculty members have been voted by the Harvard Classes of 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 as among their favorite professors.
We congratulate Joseph Blitzstein, Professor of the Practice in Statistics, and Michael Parzen, Senior Lecturer on Statistics, on receiving this honor. We thank them for their tremendous devotion to Harvard and to higher education in general.
Earlier Stat Dept recipients were Stephen Blyth, Professor of the Practice in Statistics (Part-Time) and Managing Director (Harvard Management Company), and Kenneth Stanley (now retired from the Harvard School of Public Health).
Here is historical information on favorite professors in the Stat Dept, as well as letters & photographs excerpted from recent Harvard yearbooks and names of teaching fellows who supported our aim for excellence.
This is the seventh year in a row that Professor Blitzstein has won this award. Earlier in November 2010, he also won the David Pickard Award for Teaching and Mentoring. His lecture abstract on that occasion contains an interesting biographical sketch.
